First edition of the very decorative nautical chart of the Islands of Bermuda by Hendrick Hondius. Shows the Bermuda Islands with Grand Bermuda, Somerset Island and Saint George's Island. Based on John Norwood's survey of 1618, first published by John Speed in 1626. This is the first edition of the plate by H. Hondius from his Atlas Ou Representation Du Monde. This example is the from the French edition of the 1633 atlas, in which this Bermuda map was published the first time. In 1647 the map was published again by Janssonius with an altered title cartouche, around 1700 once again by Valk & Schenk.
