Antique map of the Principality of Lüneburg, Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) by Matthias Quad. Shows the area between Hamburg, Salzwedel, Wolfsburg and Diepholz. With Bremen, Uelzen, Walsrode, Magdeburg and Braunschweig. With four cartouches. Latin text on verso. Printed in Cologne by Johann Bussemann around 1600.

Cartographer

Matthias Quad, born in 1557, was a German cartographer active during the late 16th century in Cologne. His main geographical works Europae totius orbis terrarum and Geographisch Handtbuch were published and engraved by Johann Bussemacher. He died in 1613.
