Description

A very large and rare map of Port Louis and Lorient by Le Rouge

The copper engraved map published by G. L. le Rouge in 1750 and printed from two plate. It shows the area around Lorient in Brittany with a compass rose, a decorative cartouche and three sailing ships. Only a handful examples of this map can be found in libraries around the world.

Cartographer

G. L. le Rouge was a French military engineer, hydrographer and cartographer. He produced a wide rang of attractive cartographic work. He held a position of Geographical Engineer to King Louis XV.
