Description

Antique world map in double hemispheres by J. G. Schreiber, from his Atlas Selectus published in Leipzig between 1740 and 1749. Two circular diagrams with planetary orbits, above the heavens with stars, below natural phenomena and explanatory text about the continents.

Condition

Some browning, a bit stained in the margins. Very good condition with old colour.

Cartographer

Johann Georg Schreiber, a German cartographer and geographer, was born 1676 and lived in Leipzig. His only work was the Atlas Selectus published first 1740 and reissued 1749. He died in 1745.
