Very decorative and rare map of Malta with Gozo by Nicolas de Fer. Printed by Guillaume Danet in Paris in 1723 . Bottom right a small map of the harbour and fortification of La Valetta. Decorated with several naval battles and a compass rose. Enclosed by a decorative border. Top right a key with the principal places. The map was first published in the late 17th century by Sebastien de Beaulieu and Frederick de Wit.
Printers crease to the lower left. Excellent condition on strong paper. Nice full colour.
Nicolas de Fer was born in 1646 and was an important French geographer and cartographer of the late 17th Century. He issued more than 600 separate maps and was appointed Geographer of the King. He died in 1720.
