Bowen's map of South Africa with Madagascar. From 'A Complete System of Geography'. Decorated with a compass rose and a nice title cartouche with lions and African landscape. With very much details inside the landmass and descriptions of gold and silver mines as well as comments on tribes. For example: 'Hancumquas: This nation is said to make use of Lions in fighting' or 'Cabonas: Antropophages or Men Eaters' or 'The Jagas: Antropophages or Men Eaters who have depopulated this Country, the Soil is very fertile, but the Air is esteem'd unhealthy' and many more.
Centrefold backed. A very good copy.
