Description

Fascinating model of the solar system out to Saturn. Showing the orbits of 5 comets, the date the comets first appeared, the period and a prediction on the next appearance. One comet out of the five is Halley's Comet with following description in the orbit: 'This comet appeared in 1682 and will again appear in 1758. It's periode is 75 and 1/2 years.' A very unusual subject matter. From 'A Complete System of Geography'.

Emanuel Bowen was a printer, publisher and map engraver in London during the mid-eighteenth century. From 1714 onwards he worked in London and began to produce some of the finest and most attractive maps of the century.
