An unusual copper engraving by E. Bowen from 'A Complete System of Geography'. Featuring 4 small maps of the North Atlantic Islands Greenland, Iceland and Faroe. A curiosity on the sheet is the great maelstrom that once thought to be roared at the southern tip of Suouroy Island. Each map with it's own compass rose and mileage scale.

Emanuel Bowen was a printer, publisher and map engraver in London during the mid-eighteenth century. From 1714 onwards he worked in London and began to produce some of the finest and most attractive maps of the century.
