Antique map of Germany and the surrounding countries by Matthias Quad. With the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and parts of Switzerland, in the east parts of Poland and Hungary. To the lower left, the double-headed eagle. German text on verso. Printed in Cologne by Johann Bussemann around 1600.
Condition
Small tear in lower margin and lower centerfold backed. Very good conditions.
Cartographer
Matthias Quad, born in 1557, was a German cartographer active during the late 16th century in Cologne. His main geographical works Europae totius orbis terrarum and Geographisch Handtbuch were published and engraved by Johann Bussemacher. He died in 1613.
