Bowen's map of Southeast Asia from 'A Complete System of Geography'. With an elaborate allegorical cartouche and a compass rose. Includes the Philippines and part of Australia. Lots of interesting annotations throughout the map.

Cartographer

Emanuel Bowen was a printer, publisher and map engraver in London during the mid-eighteenth century. From 1714 onwards he worked in London and began to produce some of the finest and most attractive maps of the century.
