Description
Old coloured map of the northern part of South America after Guillaume de l'Isle. This is the Covens & Mortier version of the G. de l'Isle map. Shows the Amazon region with Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama and Peru with the Andes. The location of the legendary Lake Parime or Lake Parima, Lac des Xarayes is marked. It was reputedly the location of the fabled city of El Dorado. A magnificent title cartouche at the top right.
