An unusual copper engraving by E. Bowen from 'A Complete System of Geography'. Featuring 13 small maps of colonial towns and sea ports of North America and the West Indies including New York, Boston, Charleston, Cartagena, Martinique, St. Augustine, Havana, Louisbourg etc. Each map with it's own compass rose and mileage scale.

Cartographer

Emanuel Bowen was a printer, publisher and map engraver in London during the mid-eighteenth century. From 1714 onwards he worked in London and began to produce some of the finest and most attractive maps of the century.
