A exceptional detailed wall map of Spain and Portugal with a huge beautiful designed title cartouche. Printed from 4 plates, two each already joined. Size of both sheets is 102 x 62,5 cm each, joint is will be result wall map with 96 x 120 cm printed area. The map was later republished by Pierre Mortier's sons Jean and Cornelis, this copy is the first state published by Pierre itself.
Early print of the plate with dark and clear impression. Minor marginal browning.
About the  Cartograph/ Printer:  Pieter und David Mortier were booksellers in Paris and have published a wide range of geographical works. After Pieter's death, his widow continued the business until their son Cornelius took over. Cornelius started a partnership with his brother-in-law Johannes Covens and established the famous publishing house "Covens and Mortier" in Amsterdam. They have re-issued Atlases of Sanson, de l'Isle, Visscher and de Wit.
