| A rare and early woodcut map of the Aegean Sea by Bernedetto Bordone. The map was published in his 'Libro de Benedetto Bordone, nel qual si ragiona de tutte L'isole del mondo' printed in Venice 1528. The map shows the Sea of Marmara to Crete and the Levant with Cyprus. |

| About the Cartograph/ Printer: Benedetto Bordone an Italian chart- and mapmaker, worked in Venice, during the beginning of the 15th Century. He is best known for his Isolario (a genre that was en vogue in Italy at the time) entitled 'Libro de Benedetto Bordone, nel qual si ragiona de tutte L'isole del mondo'. It contains 111 woodcut maps and was published in Venice 1528. |
